Supernova in M101 – M101 SN 2011fe

Well, not sure what to say really

For the first time since November 2010, I managed to get out with the scope.

TBH I was a little worried that 1. the hardware wouldn’t work and 2. I’d forget how to make stuff work.

I have to admit that I did sit scratching my head on what I had to do and in what order – but I did get there.

It’s full moon and I wouldn’t normally have even attempted narrowband imaging during full moon, let alone unfiltered.

The light from the full moon does get in the way so I had to limit it to 2 minute subs, I binned the image 2×2 in an attempt to counter the effect of the wind (it was very windy).

So H9, ED80, unfiltered, captured using Maxim, guided using PHD. 25 x 2m Lights, Flats and Bias frames stacked in DSS, with a little processing in PSCS2.

Think I’m getting a little “nick” from the OAG – need to see if I can orient the H9 to avoid that!
