It’s been a while… I’ve not been out observing now since December and before that Kelling in September. I’ve moved to a much darker location and the skies are a massive improvement but the full extend of darkness will not be known until the end of July when it actually gets dark again.
I did managed to get out and see a couple of Iridium Flares, due to clearly not being able to tell the time I didn’t get the camera setup in time – even though I’d been sitting waiting for it 🙂
I now have a very good southern horizon from just a few metres from my house and the southern constellations that I couldn’t see from Canvey are easily visible! This image taken at 11pm clearly shows that it’s still light – click to see the larger image showing Scorpius and Libra.
